Song Details
Everybody Sing was commissioned by the Winn Brook School Chorus of Belmont, MA in 1996. This catchy, very accessible arrangement will engage singers of all ages. A leisurely introduction paves the way for Part I, a spirited tune harmonized in parallel thirds. A simple descant then adds another layer. Part 2 lies a bit lower in range and features short exclamations (about singing, peace, friendship, etc.) in 13 different languages. When the two parts and descant combine, the effect is exhilarating!
Performance options
this piece provides a good opportunity to combine multiple choruses and/or grade levels in performance; consider adding a visual representation of the different languages, either with a slide show or with posters which the children raise up as the phrases are sung; teach Part 1 to the audience briefly before performing the piece, and then invite them to sing along when all parts combine
